Grew Up With Two Siblings

The sportsman was welcomed into the world as Curt Russell Miller on October 6, 1968, in Girard, Pennsylvania. However, numerous sites also suggest that he was born on October 5. Unfortunately, not much information about Curt Miller's parents has been revealed to the public yet. Nonetheless, they frequently appear on his social media handles, making it evident that he has a wonderful relationship with his mom and dad.

Moreover, Curt is the youngest child of his mother and father and has two older siblings with whom he grew up. An interesting fact is that both his elder brother, Craig Miller, and sister, Lori Miller, are gay as well.

The Girard native knew he was gay from the time he was in high school. But he tried to mask it by playing basketball and becoming a sprinter. However, it was his sister, Lori, who got him into the sport as she also played it during her school days. In addition, Curt also trained the middle school girls' basketball team, which strengthened his passion for becoming a professional women's basketball coach.

For his higher studies, Miller attended and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace University. Furthermore, he was pursuing an MA degree in Sports Administration at Kent State University when he was named a full-time assistant coach by the Cleveland State Vikings women's basketball team. He became the youngest Division 1 top assistant coach at the age of 22.

Curt Miller Net Worth And Career

Beginning as an assistant coach at Cleveland State University, the Baldwin alumnus has been leading a successful coaching career since 1991. Considering his career has spanned over 30 years, he must have amassed an enormous amount of money. Likewise, Curt Miller's net worth must also be immense.

After his time at Cleveland State, Miller served the women's basketball teams as the head coach at various colleges, including Syracuse University, Colorado State University, Bowling Green State University, and Indiana University. In 2012, he applied for the Indiana Hoosiers when there was an opening for the head coach at the college and got the position.

The Penn native signed a six-year contract, starting at a pay of $275,000 every year. In 2013, Curt Miller's salary was raised to $310,617, and he ranked 12th in the list of 20 highest-paid coaches at public universities in Indiana.

However, the head coach resigned from the position in July 2014, and in March 2015, he became an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. After spending one season with the Sparks, he assumed the role of head coach of the Connecticut Sun on December 17, 2015.

His contract details with the Sun have not been disclosed yet. Still, considering his previous earnings, could it be his salary is in the six figures? Nevertheless, Curt Miller's net worth must be as outstanding as his career.

Likewise, Noelle Quinn is another WNBA coach with a significant fortune.

Who Is Curt Miller's Partner?

Well, it's hard to tell as the WNBA mentor has not been very public about his love life and relationships, except for one. He had been quite open about his romance with his one-time partner, Jamie Broadwell. The former couple fell in love and began their relationship while Curt was still working as an assistant coach for the Syracuse Orange women's basketball team.

As mentioned earlier, Miller was hesitant about his sexual orientation initially and thought it would negatively impact his career and scare away families. There was once a time when he pursued a recruit from a Christian family, and the recruit's father asked about him living with Jamie. Due to his fear, instead of describing Jamie as his partner, the coach said that he was a fraternity brother.

Feeling sickened with himself, Curt pledged that he would never lie and be honest for the remainder of his career. And so, Curt Miller's ex-boyfriend, Jamie, was present at his introductory news conference at IU. But sadly, in 2015, after being together for over twenty years, the then-pair broke up. Since then, the Sun head coach has not revealed his relationship status and dating life. Hopefully, he will someday.

Is A Proud Father

The sportsman is an adoptive father of his former lover's nephews, twins Shawn Seymour and Brian Seymour. The twins were born on December 25, on Christmas Day in 1994, to Jamie Broadwell's sister. The biological mother of the kids was addicted to drugs, making her unable to look after them. So, the ex-couple became the legal guardians of the children when they were five.

Curt Miller's son, Brian, majored in Journalism at Indiana University Bloomington and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2020. On the other hand, his other kid, Shawn, has been behind bars since the age of 19. Unfortunately, he fell victim to the opioid crisis as a teenager and made poor decisions due to drug abuse and addiction.

Shawn was convicted and arrested on the count of a series of armed robberies in Bloomington and Monroe County. Moreover, during the confrontation, he was shot by the police, which thankfully only grazed his head. After spending two years in an extensive drug rehabilitation program, Miller's kid is currently spending his days in a correctional facility. The former is hopeful that his son will get a second chance.

Nevertheless, Curt Miller has continuously proved his worth and shown remarkable results. We hope he continues to deliver great coaching skills in the future. Let's wish him more success and prosperity in the remainder of his career and life.
