The BMX pro was born on September 9, 1986, in Altadena, California. His parents divorced when he was six years old. Moreover, Steven Cisar's father, Martin Cisar, taught him how to ride bikes. The latter specifically provided him motocross and BMX lessons.

Likewise, Cisar's mother, Nadia, supported his career choice from the very beginning. She has also made appearances in the documentary titled Steven Cisar: The Missing Years. Furthermore, Cisar also has a sister named Jessica Cisar.

The cyclist began riding at the age of six. He had become an expert racer at both BMX and motocross at eight. Moreover, young Steven began gaining recognition after participating in local competitions.

Alongside practicing, Steven was focused on his academics. He was enrolled at Crescenta Valley High School and later graduated from there.

The cyclist went on a brief hiatus before making his return to BMX in early 2013. He was selected to race the 2014 UCI BMX World Championships. In addition, the racer competed in his first-ever TRA Double Cross Race the same year. He finished the match in the second position with $850 prize money.

Since then, Cisar has participated in several more BMX races. He has currently switched to enduro racing. Moreover, the biker recently competed in CA Enduro Series at Mt. Shasta.

Steven Cisar's Addiction Problems

Steven Cisar had switched to BMX to participate in the 2008 Olympics. However, he failed to qualify for the American team. Moreover, the incident created a massive impact than expected on Cisar's life. He began taking marijuana and soon became addicted to prescribed pills.

Afterward, the sportsman's family admitted him into rehab in 2009. However, he was in and out of rehab several times for the following two years.

On one of his rehab visits, the BMX expert met a guy who encouraged him to take heroin. So he began taking it and started selling family assets to buy them. In addition, the former motocross rider got arrested twice for the possession of heroin. It was the bleakest moment of his life.

Finally, Cisar decided to turn sober in 2012 and again entered into rehab. Afterward, he got drugs out of his system and again started his BMX career.

Despite being on a hiatus for few years, Steven Cisar has made a remarkable comeback in his cycling career. He is currently sober and is determined to continue racing. Hopefully, he will keep up this momentum and find success in the future.
