Dawson Hay is a renowned bronco rider in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. A 2-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier, the young man has been riding horses all his life. Having joined ProRodeo in 2017, he has gone on to participate in many tournaments.

Dawson was born in July 1998 in Vernon, Canada, to his parents, Rod Hay and Shelley Hay. Dawson Hay's father is a former saddle bronc rider and legend who qualified 20 times for the National Finals Rodeo. He comes second to Billy Etbauer with 21 qualifications. Nonetheless, the senior Hay is an eight-time Canadian Champion and winner of four Calgary Stampede saddle bronc titles. Sadly, he retired after a leg injury in 2010. Rod was inducted into Canada's Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2019.

Furthermore, Dawson Hay's older brother, Logan Hay, also rides saddle broncs in the PRCA. In July 2022, the latter broke his 95 points world record with a 95.5 ride at the Hardgrass Bronc Match in Polloclville, Alberta. Also, Logan is the winner of the 2022 Calgary Stampede. In addition, Dawson's younger brother, Devon Hay, graduated high school in June 2022.

All three brothers were invited to compete in the 2022 Calgary Stampede in June 2022. Dawson Hay's wife is the granddaughter of Late Sally Marvel Freeman, also known as "Mustang Sally," a competitive cowgirl and accomplished horsewoman of her time. Following Sally's footsteps, Lily began her rodeo career with barrel racing in the second grade. She won the Pole Bending State title as a sophomore in high school. After that, she came second in the state cutting competition and third in goat tying, making her California's All-Around Cowgirl. 

Presently, Lily works as an Executive Sales Representative at Rodeo Quincy. The Hay couple are also soon entering parenthood. Dawson Hay's daughter, Honey Hay, is expected to be born in October 2022. The former happily announced the news on his Instagram.
