Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is a worldwide technology corporation based in Menlo Park, California. Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as well as other companies, are all owned by the firm.

Meta, along with Amazon, Google, Apple, and Microsoft, is one of the world's most valuable corporations and is regarded as one of the Big Tech companies in US information technology. However, the name it has made today was once nothing but a startup that people were afraid of falling in.

Even though it was just a startup, the one name among others who was always there for Mark Zuckerberg from the company's initial period was Andrew Bosworth.

Andrew "Boz" Bosworth is a technology executive from the United States. He is the vice president of augmented and virtual reality at Meta.

Moreover, before joining Facebook, Andrew Bosworth was an assistant teacher in an artificial intelligence class. This class was attended by Mark Zuckerberg, who was a sophomore at the time, whereas Andrew was in his senior year at Harvard University.

Bosworth is a good friend of Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms. Their children play together, and when Bosworth's house was being built, he rented a house from Zuckerberg and moved in next door.

Andrew Bosworth Net Worth And Career

Andrew joined Microsoft after graduating from Harvard in 2004 and worked as a developer in Seattle for two years prior to receiving an invitation from Zukerburg to join his startup.

Mark Zuckerburg approached Bosworth about joining Facebook because of the friendship they had built while they were both in college. However, Andrew had to make a difficult choice and that was to risk leaving a secure life and salary to pursue something that piqued his curiosity.

The Meta's CTO's perspective was molded by his own life experiences, particularly the risk he took by quitting a well-paying, secure job at Microsoft to join a relatively unknown startup. And now we could only imagine how disappointed he would have been if he had stayed with Microsoft once Facebook became a worldwide hit.

Andrew built and ran the company's six-week Bootcamp program to build the engineering team and sustain its culture after temporarily focusing on site speed and reliability. After that, he was in charge of the Groups, Messenger, and Video Calling teams and the integration of the Messages and Chat products while enhancing stability.

The Harvard graduate has served as the engineering director for Events, Places, Photos, Videos, Timeline, Privacy, Mobile Monetization, and Feed Ads at various periods. Andrew also led engineering, product, research, analytics, and design as the VP of Ads and Business Platform. He established the company's AR/VR organization, presently known as Reality Labs, in 2017. Andrew oversees Meta's AR, VR, AI, and consumer hardware activities across Quest, Portal, Ray-Ban Stories, and other properties.

Here is what Andrew has to say about Oculus' strategic vision from VR to MR.

In terms of salary, he hasn't made anything public. However, according to a small amount of research, the average pay for a Facebook executive is around $222,949 per year. Hence, we can estimate Andrew Bosworth's net worth to be substantial as well.

Referred As GodFather Of The News Feed

Bosworth had made his impact in a matter of months. He was one of the few software developers who worked on what is now Facebook's most important feature, News Feed. Before the launch of News Feed in September 2006, Facebook was a collection of accounts that users could switch between, posting to each other's walls as they pleased. News Feed gathered all of these posts into a single, never-ending screen, from which the content never stopped pouring in. According to a former executive, Andrew is known as the "godfather of the news feed" at the company.

In 2012, as Facebook switched from being mostly web-focused to being mobile-responsive, Zuckerberg appointed Bosworth to manage the company's advertising product development. Andrew took a disorganized hodgepodge of goods in a faltering business and converted it into a nearly $27 billion money-maker by the end of 2016. Hence the title GodFather is well given to him. Similarly, one can speculate his earnings from the well-deserved title he got.

Designated As Chief Technological Officer

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's CEO, designated Andrew the Chief Technological Officer on September 23, 2021. The statement came a week after lawmakers slammed Facebook and Instagram for their impact on teen mental health. Mark named his go-to-fix-it guy the CTO after a rough week. Andrew, also known as Boz, will start working as CTO in early 2022.

Hence here we can see, the trust and his accomplishments made the CEO Mark Zuckerberg turn his head to him. Similarly, Andrew Bosworth's net worth also must be enormously high enough looking at the designation he got.

Talking about wealth, the CEO and co-founder of Meta Inc, Mark Zuckerberg has an estimated net worth of a whopping $129 billion. He is among those billionaires who pocketed a staggering sum during the COVID-19 pandemic.
