Timothée Hal Chalamet was born on December 27, 1995, in New York, US. He was raised alongside his sibling Pauline Chalamet by his parents, who both are from mixed backgrounds. As a kid, Timothée spent his summers in France with his maternal grandparents in Le Chambon-Sur-Lignon. He trained his juniors as a soccer coach and hoped to become a professional athlete in the future. The actor completed his elementary schooling at PS 87 William T. Sherman School before moving into MS 54 Booker T. Washington Middle School.

He was later accepted by Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where Timothée found himself interested in acting.
