The motocross rider was only a rookie when he won the MXGP FIM world title in 2015 at the age of 23. His popularity heightened when he led his home country to win the annual team contest, the Motocross of Nations, later in the same year.

Romain returned to racing in 2020 and became the runner-up at the 2021 MXGP World Championship. Sadly, he was in another crash during the Paris Supercross and broke his tibia and fibula. Fortunately, he underwent successful surgery on his right leg and decided to rest for a few weeks before starting to prepare for the 2022 MXGP season.
