Mark Daniels Jr. was born on July 24, 1981, to parents Mark Daniels Sr. and Sylvia Daniels. In an interview with The Bassmaster, Mark Daniels Jr.'s father said that he was literally born to fish. The Bassmaster Elite Series angler is his parents' youngest child with 3 older sisters.
Mark Daniels Sr. would often take his son out fishing with his friends since he was 8 months old. The old man recalls MDJ always talking about fishing and asking when they would go fishing next ever since he could talk. At the age of 12, MDJ was sure that he would become a professional and competitive angler.

The three-time MLF tour winner got the full support of his father to pursue his dream of becoming a competitive angler. However, Mark Daniels Jr.’s mother wished for him to attend college. The caring son honored his mother’s wishes by attending the Tuskegee University in Alabama, where he got a degree in agricultural biology.
